After Delivery Resources

After Baby’s Arrival

Step 1: DEERS

After discharge from the hospital, please go to the DEERS office in person to receive a DOD ID. You do not need to wait for the official birth certificate or social security card (this will come in 8-10 weeks). Take the complimentary birth certificate provided at discharge from the hospital.

Step 2: TRICARE

Next, to enroll your child in TRICARE, please call 1-844-866-9378 or visit www.tricare-west.com. Enrollment in TRICARE Prime is automatic for the first 90 days of life. However, if you do not register your child within this timeframe, your child’s enrollment will automatically change to Select. Please ensure it is with a PCM in Pediatrics at MAFB.

Step 3: Medical Records

The third step is to call Medical Records to register your child with the MAFB clinic at 406-731-7378.
