Malmstrom Pharmacy
Safety
To ensure accurate medication dispensing, technology guides the pharmacy staff at each step in the prescription filling process. This minimizes the chance of human error, while also reducing wait times. To help with this initiative, we recommend you ask off-base providers to send all prescriptions electronically via our shared system to “DOD Malmstrom ePHCY.” Our electronic prescription system also accepts controlled medication prescriptions.
Efficiency
Malmstrom Pharmacy processes nearly 7,000 prescriptions a month. Due to the high volume, we recommend you get familiar with our operational procedures. You can use Q-Anywhere to activate new prescriptions, use the automated call-in refill service to process refills, and have off-base providers send prescriptions electronically to “
DOD Malmstrom ePHCY.” This will reduce delays and keep operations moving as safely and efficiently as possible.
Activation for NEW Prescriptions
Please note: prescriptions are NOT automatically filled after a provider sends them. It’s the patient’s responsibility to activate the prescription so the pharmacy can process it.
Prescription Activation Options during duty hours:
- Skip the line with Q-Anywhere! To use this service, scan the QR code or text the phrase “Get in Line” to 833-504-8284. Select the hyperlink to be directed to the website and follow the prompt. Prescriptions will be ready at 2 p.m. the next duty day (minimal manning days/family days require an extra 24-hour processing time).
- In person activation: Scan your ID card at one of the pharmacy kiosks and wait for your ticket number to be called. Prescriptions will be ready the same day (aside from special order medications).
Prescription Refills
To request refills, use the
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal (user guide below) or call our automated refill line at 406-313-3846 and follow the prompts. Before visiting the pharmacy, please wait to receive a text notification that your prescriptions are ready for pickup. If you haven’t received pickup notifications from us before, please tell a pharmacy staff member to opt you into the notification system.
Picking Up Prescriptions
- Prescriptions are picked up from Window 3.
- If refills were called in by you via the automated phone line or through the patient portal, go to Window 3.
- If you checked in at the kiosk and have been called up to windows 1 or 2 and have been notified your prescription is ready, go to Window 3.
- If you used the Q-Anywhere system and it’s after 2 p.m. the next duty day, go to window 3.
- If your provider called in a new or renewal prescription and you have not activated them, or you need a same-day refill, proceed to the kiosk and choose the “New Prescription” option, then wait for your number to be called.
